The tubular, hollow blue-green leaves can
be used to add a mild oniony flavor to anything from breads to
soups; also tasty and attractive sprinkled over the top as a
garnish; pink flower heads are edible when young but become tough
and stronger-flavored if allowed to mature before picking; keep
flowers picked off to maintain best flavor in foliage. As a
companion plant in the garden, it reputedly keeps its neighbors bug-
and disease- free. |
