1998 Perennial Plant of the Year by the Perennial Plant Association. This staple of the southern summer garden tolerates heat, full sun and less-than-wonderful soil conditions. Very sensitive, however, to poor drainage. The drooping petals (ray flowers) around the raised central cone (disc flowers) put on a great show in small numbers or in masses. |
