Heuchera

These varieties were developed by plant breeder Thierry Delabroye from our natives, and so will tolerate our heat and humidity more than some of the other Heuchera species.  Hardy as far north as zone 4 and down to zone 8 or 9, they prefer moist soil and afternoon shade, but will tolerate drier conditions once established.  Leaf colors change as the season progresses.
