Verbenas are good
solid performers in our area most of the time. For best
show, they need adequate feeding, occasional deadheading (or
shearing will do) and while they are fairly drought-tolerant
once established, they don't readily forgive a wilt. We
recommend mixing them with other plants in borders, beds and
containers rather than betting the farm on verbena alone.
That way, when the verbena are taking a rest from a shear or the
heat, other plants can fill in and take over for awhile.
Whiteflies and aphids are sometimes a concern. |

Aztec and Aztec
Magic series
Spacing: 14-18"
Height: 12-16"
or
4-6"
depending
on
series
Exposure: Sun
The primary differences
between the Aztecs and the Aztec Magics have to do with leaf form
and habit. The Aztecs have a larger, more solid leaf while
Magic leaves are more finely divided. The Aztecs have a slightly
more mounded habit (14-18"), and the Magics grow more flat (4-6"+).
Both series are marketed as more powdery mildew-resistant than other
verbena. The Aztec and Aztec Magics will generally not be as
winter-hardy as Homestead which is listed under perennials. |
